Bushfire Ready is a community-led program that encourages local residents to learn about planning and preparing for bushfires by working together.

  • Bushfire Ready is focused on increasing community resilience and encourages residents to form a Bushfire Ready Group within their street or area. In groups, community members learn how to prepare homes and properties using bushfire survival plans.

The program is self-managed, flexible and driven by your community, for your community. Members decide when, where and how often to meet, and will receive support from a trained Volunteer Bushfire Ready Facilitator and local Fire Services personnel.

    • Increase your understanding of bushfire risk around homes, streets and immediate surrounding bushland in your area.

    • Gain knowledge about bushfire behaviour to develop your own Bushfire Survival Plan.

    • Embrace the opportunity to meet your neighbours and build vital support networks.

    • Reduce the cost that bushfire has on life, property and the environment.

    • Develop realistic expectations of emergency services’ capabilities during bushfires.

    • Find out where and how to access information during a bushfire.

  • To find out if your area has a Bushfire Ready Group or to form a group in your local area, contact the DFES Community Preparedness Team on 08 9395 9816 or by emailing CommunityPreparedness@dfes.wa.gov.au
