HAZARD REDUCTION BURNS
reduce bushfire risk on your property
Hazard reduction burning for residents within the City of Kalamunda to reduce the risk and intensity of wildfire.
Hazard Reduction Burns can help to minimise the risk of bushfires on your property and in our community. The Kalamunda Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade can assist residents in managing fuel loads by conducting hazard reduction burns in a safe and controlled setting. We typically undertake our burning program in Spring and Autumn each year (weather dependant).

The Brigade has a long wait list for hazard reduction burns, and burns are strategically prioritised based on overall risk. It is important to remember that burning should not be considered a reactive approach to fuel hazard management; it is a strategic one. Burning is a fuel hazard management technique that is planned well ahead of time – sometimes years ahead. Residents will typically call on us two years in advance readying us to re-treat their properties so they keep their own targets. Please note, if you have a smaller property located within the gazetted district of the Kalamunda Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service, your email will be directed to the VFRS.
